How You Can Help
An undertaking like the Maine Eagle Cane Project is a labor of love. Dedicated wood carvers and
woodturners eagerly give their time and talents, often using their own supplies. We also rely heavily
on donations to make this project happen.
There are several ways in which to help:
**If you are a carver:
We will gladly provide you with a kit containing a tapered, tenoned dowel, an eagle head blank,
glass eyes, an adaptor, and a rubber foot, or whatever individual supplies you need. On the Carving Instructions page
you will find links to tutorials, patterns, and any other information you will need to complete a cane. You can also email with any questions.
**If you are not a carver but would like to help:
It is the spirit of volunteerism and the commitment to honor our veterans that make this work. Unfortunately, we have expenses to cover...shipping, supplies, etc We are grateful to
MDI Woodcarvers, Peavey Manufacturing,
and Unique Canes for their generous price reductions. We still, however, do have to pay for these supplies.
**Here is another opportunity to help.
Barb McCutcheon has a whole lot of rough sawn basswood that
she would like to donate to the Project for eagle heads. If you have a bandsaw and are able/willing to
cut a bunch of eagle head blanks, that would be a huge help. We also need someone with a drill press
to drill the holes. We'll supply the patterns! Please email if you would like to do this.
**You can help to support this Project by:
Sending your donation to: Wilma Sarna, Treasurer Maine Wood Carvers Association 336 Harpswell Islands Road Harpswell, ME 04079 207-729-5838 |

Donations in the form of supplies (wood for blanks, adaptors, etc) and services (bandsawing blanks, turning adaptors, etc) are always appreciated as well.
